Full Tilt Poker FTOPS X

November 18, 2008

It was a big weekend for online poker, with PokerStars topping 30,000 real money players in traffic for the first time and one of the largest tournament weekends to boot. Taking down the largest single win was online pro player Amit “amak316” Makhija winning the Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Series X $5,000+$200 event. The standard format was tossed aside for this one, with players seated at six-handed tables vs. the standard nine person tables. While some may have been scared off by the buy-in and some may not have liked the fast paced six-handed format, there were still 500 players that happily paid their entry directly or got in by way of satellite to play.

November Nine member Craig Marquis was the host of the tournament, one of his first official “acts” since joining Team Full Tilt. He actually ran very deep in the tournament, finishing in the money in 24th place and taking home a palty (compared to his last big cash) $17,500. Other “Red Pros” to cash included Brandon Adams and David Pham.

The six players making up the final table had quite a bit of experience both online and in real live tournaments with Mark “Buster Love” Seif and Amit “amak316” Makhija finding themselves in the mix. Mark has many live cashes to his credit and Amit has cashed at smaller World Series of Poker event as well as a runner up finish at a World Poker Tour for $560,000.

For his victory in the FTOPS event, Amit took home a cool $550,000.
