After 217 players made it through three separate Day 1 rounds at the Poker Stars Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final and returning for a long day of play on Day 2, the field was narrowed down to a final 48 competitors who ended the day in the guaranteed money.
The initial field kicked off with many well known poker pros amongst the ranks including Chris Moneymaker, John Juanda, Van Marcus, Carter Gill, Wooka Kim and Gavin Griffin. Unfortunately all those players were sidelined by the end of Day 2 though Frank Saffioti, Brendan Edmonds, Phil Willcocks and Marlon Goonawardana were amongst the top names on the leader board.
Terrence “Not Johnny” Chan was among the earliest of casualties who managed to bust out on his first hand of the day. Following soon after him was Tony Dunst and John Juanda then Chris Moneymaker who went out in the first few levels of the day. It seems that the luck from Manila didn’t carry over for Van Marcus in Sydney when the Asia Pacific Poker Tour champ busted out early on Day 2.
A few other notables who were eliminated on Day 2 included Lee “Final Table” Nelson, Masaaki Kagawa, Mark VOs and Gavin Griffin. After several all in hands on the bubble, David Sanis wound up being the bubble thanks to Tim English. The remaining 48 players will continue to make their way to the final table and the incredible $1,000,000 AUD top prize. Below is a list of the players with the top ten chip stacks entering into Day 3 action:
Frank Saffioti - 619,000
