Crazy Pineapple Poker

This is a very fun game and is truly crazy. Crazy Pineapple creates bigger pots, huge increase in action, and exciting suck outs. This wild game can be played as a No Limit, Pot Limit or Fixed Limit game and you will usually find this game played at dealer choice tables at your local casino.

Crazy Pineapple is basically the same game as hold'em except one major exception, you get dealt 3 hole cards and you throw one away after the betting round on the flop. Crazy Pineapple has 2 other main variations. The other most commonly played is Straight Pineapple; which is where you discard one of your hole cards before you see the flop. The other variation which isn't played very often is called crazy pineapple hi/lo 8 or better. All the games have the same betting structure as Texas Hold'em.

When playing Pineapple Poker you will find that you are often faced with a really tough decision. There are times when you will have top 2 pair and the nut flush draw. And you have to discard one of your cards, obviously it will come down to how many players you think will be in the pot. If it is a heads up pot which is unlikely in a pineapple game you will want to keep your 2 pair.

It is very hard to write a basic strategy for this game, but it's very important to note that nearly all pots will go down contested multi-way. When playing with 3 hole cards there are many more hand possibilities, so the average winning hand is much higher then your Texas Hold'em game.

Even if you are a tight preflop player you will find yourself playing a lot more hands in Crazy Pineapple and Pineapple. Great starting hands contain a big pair and a suited ace. Here are some premium starting hands, Ac – Ad – Kc, 10d- Jc- Qc, Kd-Kh-AH, 10d-10h-Jh and I'm sure you are getting the picture. It's very important to play a hand that gels together, hands like 6-6-2 are absolutely worthless in a game of pineapple. However, throw a suited ace with the small pair and the hand becomes playable for small preflop pot.

Learning the basics of this game can prove to be very profitable. When you sit down and play some Pineapple poker, you will realize that most players over value their hands, and put way more money into the pot then they should. Also this game is a lot of fun and truly is one of the biggest “action” games out there.
