High Stakes Poker Season 5 Episode 4 Summary

On the first hand Ziigmund outdrew Durrr by making a pair on the river to win the pot. The second hand Durrrr got involved again when he opened QJ for a raise and got calls from four other players. The flop came Ad 4d 7s which missed all five and Ziigmund won the pot with a $15K bluff.

AJ Benza asked Gabe Kaplan who has been the most impressive player so far in High Stakes Poker Season 5, and he gave the obvious answer Tom Dwan (durrrr) stating he’s played near perfect poker. It was an interesting time to comment this as Durrrr played well, but lose the first two pots of the episode. What makes it interesting is perhaps they jinxed durrrr somehow because of the way the third hand ended up.

On hand #3 Eastgate opens for a $3K raise with Qs 8c, Barry raises to $12K with Jh 9h and Dwan looks down sees pocket aces and raises to $31K. Likely because it’s Durrrr, Barry calls. The flop gives Barry top pair when it comes Jd Tc 3h and Durrrr bets $46,200 which sends Barry to the tank for a long time. Barry then raises it $100K on top, Durrrr moves all in and Barry calls. The pot is $548,700 (the second biggest in high stakes poker). The turn comes a nine and when Durrrr fails to resucked out on the river, Barry wins the massive pot. For a guy who doesn’t get rattled much Durrrr looks sick and says “nice hand”. Barry gives his math is idiotic speech after spending a bit of time looking as if he lost. (This was his donation to charity line as part of a campaign at twoplustwo.com).

The next hand Greenstien opens with Kh Js and Benyamind calls with As 10s. The flop comes 6c, 7s Qc, Barry bets and Benyamine folds. Benyamine starts to talk to Elezra and Elezra responds “don’t talk to me” he sounds pretty serious and we never find out what this was about.

On the fifth hand Brunson picks up AK and raises to $3500. Greenstein calls with Ah 3d, Negreanu with 7h 4s, Ziigmund with 9h 4h, Elezra with As Jc and Durrr with pocket nines. The flop comes 9s Ts Qs giving Elezra and open ended straight draw with a nut flush draw and Durrr a set of 9’s. Durrrr checks, Elezra bets $12K and Durrr calls. The turn comes 7c, Durrrr checks, Elezra bets $37K and Durrrr calls. The river is a 6c, Durrrr checks and Elezra checks conceding the hand.

Ziigmund orders his usual vodka, cranberry, soda and we’re on to hand #6.

Brunson open limps with 4’s. Dwan limps as well with 5c 3d, Eleza with As 6h, Negreanu with Ac 8h and Eastgate with Qc 7c. The flop comes 3c Qh 5h giving Eastgate top pair and Durrrr bottom two pair. Eastgate bets and Durrrr calls. The flop is a Jc, Eastgate bets $12K Durrrr calls and then the river gives Durrrr a full house when it comes a 5. Eastgate bets $15K, Durrrr raises to $93K trying to make it look like a bluff, but Eastgate folds the hand.

On hand #8 durrrr raises to $3500 with 7d 6h, Elezra calls with pocket fours and everyone else folds. The board comes 8c 5s 7s Kh. Dwan bets $6600 and Elezra calls. The river 9 gives durrrr a straight and he checks hoping Elezra bluffs, but he checks behind instead and durrrr rakes in the pot.

Durrrr puts the straddle on in hand #9 and Elezra calls with Js3s, Ziigmund raises to $12K with Ks 4c, Eastgate calls with 4h 2h and Elezra and Durrr fold. The flop comes 6s, 8d, 9c, Ziigmund checks and Eastgate bluffs with a $25K bet and picks up the pot.

Ziigmund and Elezra square off in hand 10 which is a slow paced thinking hand where neither player has much. On the river Elezra has ace high and when they both check Ziigmund tells him you win and Elezra looks shocked when his ace high is good.

On hand #11 Durrrr raises with AJ, and four players call. The flop comes Qd 7c 2c missing all four players and everyone checks. The turn is 4d and everyone again checks. The river is an Ad giving Doyle a flush and Durrr top pair. Durrr bets $6K, Ziigmund calls, with just king high, and Doyle raises it to $36K. Durrrr thinks for a while and folds as does Ziigmund giving Doyle the pot.

On hand #9 Doyle plays Jh 9h very aggressive on a flop of Qh 8c 6h, the turn was a 9s and Doyles bets $35,000. Durrr calls him with just a pair of eights and a double gut, and Benyamine does as well with two pair Queens and Eights. The river is 2h giving Doyle the flush and he checks, Durrrr tanks for a while and checks and Benyamine tanks for a while curses when he turns up his flopped top two that went bad.

The final hand of Episode 4 sees Elezra open with Ad 7h, Ziigmund call with Jh Td, Negreanu with Qc Jd, Greenstien with 99 and Durrrr with AT. The flop comes QQA giving Negreanu trips. Elezra leads for $10,500 with his top pair, Negreanu calls with his trips, and Dwan calls with his top pair. The turn is 4c and this time its Elezra checks and Negreanu bets $30,000, Durrrr folds and Elezra calls. The turn river is 5d Daniel bets $75K and Elezra folds.

Negreanu got some chips back this episode after being the big loser back on episode 3.
