High Stakes Poker Season 5 Episode 6 first aired on the Game Show Network (GSN) on April 5, 2009. The cast is the same as last episode with Tom “Durrrr” Dwan, Daniel Negreanu, Eli Elezra, Doyle Brunson, David Benyamin, Barry Greenstein, Peter Eastgate, and Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies returning to the tables, and of course the hosts are as always AJ Benza and Gabe Kaplan. High Stakes Poker Season 5 Episode 6 Summary

The blinds during this episode are $500/$1000 with a $200 ante.

Hand one opens with Ziigmund raising to $6000 with 77 and getting action from Durrrr and Elezra. The board comes A5TJA and Elezra has the best hand with QT. After a lot of checking, Durrrr takes down this pot by making a $52,000 river bluff.

The next hand Eastgate Straddles and Doyle Brunson double Straddles. Greenstein raises to $15K with AsJS, Eastgate calls with Ks 7s and Doyle stick around with Jd 9c. The flop comes Jc 3s 7d and Brunson leads for $35,000, Barryg1 calls, and Eastgate raises to $104K which just sevens. The turn is Ts giving both players flush draws. Eastgate checks and Barryg1 bets $175,000 and Eastgate gives it up making Barry Greenstein the winner of the massive pot.

The next hand Greenstien straddles and Dwan puts on the double straddle. Benyamine opens the pot for $20K with pocket nines. Ziigmund calls with Ah 7h, Negreanu calls with As 3s and Greenstien sees Ac Kc and raises it to $175K. Durrrr sees 74 lets it go, Benyamine gets out of the way and Ziigmund and Negreanu also fold giving Barry another big pot. At this point Barry Greenstein has $900K in front of him.

The next hand Elezra flops aces up in a four way pot. Benyamine puts in a $17K bet before Elezra picks up the pot with a raise.

The next hand Eastgate opens with Th 6s, and Durrr calls with AJ and flops top 2. Durrrr checks to him, Eastgate bets $4K and durrrr pops it to $14,300 and Eastgate folds.

Biggest Pot in High Stakes Poker History

Eastgate opens for $3500 with AK from late position. Greenstein raises to $15K with AA, Durrrr calls with Ks Qs and Eastgate calls. The flop make things really interesting when it come 4s 2s Qh giving Durrrr top pair with a flush draw, but Greenstein has the over pair. Durrrr bet $28,700, Eastgate folded, Greenstein raised to $100K. At this point we see on the video that this is a coinflip with both players having a 50% chance at winning the hand. Durrrr raises it to $244,600 and Barry Greenstein who has a $900K in front of him bets enough to put Durrrr all in. Durrrr calls and the pot is $919,600. This is a 50/50 coinflip for the biggest pot in high stakes poker history.

The turn is a queen and the river is a blank and Tom “Durrrr” Dwan has won the biggest pot in high stakes poker history.

The next hand is not nearly as exciting, but to cover it. Durrrr raises with 9c 5c and and is called by Negreanu who has 7s 5s and Ziigmund who has 7d 5d. It flopped one of each players suit A 3 4. Negreanu gets imaginitve and raises to $32K, Ziigmund does too pushing all in and a short stacked Negreanu is priced in and calls. Having the same hand the players decide to chop now.

In the next hand Ziigmund opened for $4500 with Jd 6d, Negreanu called with Kc Qh everyone else folded. The flop came Qd 6s 3h, Ziigmund bet $8K and Negreanu called. The turn came 6h and Ziigmund bet $28K with his trips. Negreanu moves all in, Ziigmund calls and the rivers a brick and Negreanu is now down $600K for High Stakes Poker Season 5 and decides to call it quits making the lonely walk to the exit.

Doyle Brunson is taking a break, so we’re now playing six handed. Eastgate opens for $3,500 with Js 9s, Dwan calls with Ad 3d, and Benyamine calls with pocket nines. The flop comes 9 Q Q, Benyamine bets $28K, Eastgate calls. The turn comes 6h, Benyamine bets $38,000, Eastgate calls. The river comes 8c, Benyamine bets $75K and Eastgate tanks for a while before calling. Benyamine’s full house wins him a massive $331,200 pot.

Doyle Brunson has returned so we’re now playing 7 handed again.

Eastgate puts the live straddle on to $2K, Benyamine, Ziigmund and Elezra all see the flop. Eastgate has 6c 4h and Elezra 5d 3d. The flop comes Qc 6s 4d and its checked. Eastgate makes a full house when the turn is the six of hearts and he bets $5K. Elezra raises with his open ended straight draw to $15K and Eastgate just calls. When the turn is a deuce of spades Elezra feels he got very lucky, bets $55K but Eastgate repops it by moving all in making it $188,700. Elezra tanks for a while and makes the call and the dealer pushes the $282,600 pot to Peter Eastgate.

On the second to final hand of season five episode six sees durrrr raise with AQ, Elezra call with K9 and everyone else get out of the way. The flop came QTQ, Durrrr and Elezra checked. The turn is a T. Durrrr bets $8300 and Elezra calls. The river is a 9, Durrr bets $7500 and Elezra tanks for a while and pays off the small river bet.

The final hand Eastgate opens with 64, Brunson calls with KQ, Greenstien with 44, the flop comes T Q 8 and it checks around. The turn is a 5, Doyle bets and finally takes down the pot.
