Although, the consensus was that Mansion would be heading over to the iPoker network, not the OnGame network. Online Poker Pro Justin Bonomo Places High At Caesars Palace Classic - 21 year old Bonomo places 6th in the 2007 Caesars Palace Classic Championship event in Las Vegas, picking up another big cash since turning 21. David Singer beat out the 287 players to win first place and earning himself a cool million. This win brings Singer's total career winnings to over $3.3 million.

The 2008 World Series of Poker will be set up and staged at the Rio All Suited Hotel & Casino, in of course, Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be taking place from May 30th to July 17th 2008. Here are a few comments that WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack had to say.
"The team is still hard at work on the schedule of events for next year, but we've received so many requests for the dates that we decided to announce them now. We'll actually open the WSOP tournament room the week of May 26th for two special events," said Iafrate, vice president and assistant general manager of the Rio. "This 'soft opening' will give players a chance to register early and avoid the lines we had last year during opening weekend -- our busiest time."
Pollack is like Gary Bettman, either you love him or you hate him. But hopefully this year, the WSOP will be better organized!
New High Stakes Poker After Dark Week - NBC's popular poker show, Poker After Dark will be airing a special event series with a buy-in of $50k, which is $30k more then the normal buy-in. The show will begin airing on October 8th, 2007. The players are participating are, Allen Cunningham, Jen Harman, Phil Ivey, Eli Elezra, David Benyamine, and Barry Greenstien.

Adam Gerber Brings Home the 2007 United States Poker Championship - The $10k buy-in created a very nice prize pool in Atlantic City, when Adam Gerber won $606,095 for first place and a premium Rolex watch. The event started with 164 entrants at the Trump Taj Mahal and played out over a 3 day period. This is Adam's first ever major win next to the $250k 2nd place prize in Borgata last month. One more win and Adam will be doing well in the live tournament rankings for this half of the year.

Travis Rice Wins $800k at Aruba Poker Classic - Being a professional poker player and wining a tournament like this feels great, especially when you're only 25! Just ask Travis Rice who took down the UltimateBet Aruba Poker Classic. This isn't Rices first chance hitting it big in a tournament. Throughout the WSOP he had several deep cashes but could never reach first place. This all changed when he outlasted over 580 people to win his first major tournament.

The WCOOP Main Event took place this past Sunday and put up some impressive numbers. Nearly 3,000 players bought in to the event, which becomes one of the largest payouts of all online poker history. The total prize pool was nearly $7.5 million. PokerStars team member and BRB poker babe Vanessa Rousso made the final table. She put on a great outing and ended up in 3rd place and taking home over $460,000. The PokerStars team has been doing really well in the WCOOP events. |

Betfair Revenue Increases - Betfair is an online poker room and casino, they have just recently announced that their annual revenues have increased 182 million this past year. Betfair is attributing the new success to their new online casino which is impressing a lot of people. Also, Betfair has moved their poker client on to their own network. They were previously on the Cryptologic network. This has also been a reason for the increase in revenue.
Since October 1st Betfair has stated that they now have over 1 million registered members and over 443,000 active members. Betfair was also the main sponsor of this years WSOP Europe edition. During the events they hired Annette (Annette_15) Obrestad, an 18 year old female poker player to be a spokes model.
Recent Major Tournament Winners - There have been all kind of major tournaments that have taken place in the month of September. The World Series of Poker European version wrapped up not to long ago. The events took place in Barcelona. There was some great stories that came forward. The biggest shocker was Annette Obrestad an 18 year old online phenom one the Main Event. The Main Event was the strongest field in European poker history, which had a £10,000 buy-in. The first paid prize paid out a cool £1 million.
Pokerstars was hosing their 2007 World Championship of Online Poker as well this month. Greg "FossilMan" Raymer took first place in the $300+20 rebuy Pot Limit Omaha event. Raymer gets hooked up with a WCOOP bracelet and a nice prize of $168,320.40!
The WPT Borgata Poker Open finished up on September 20th and paid out $1,575,280 for first! Roy Winston was lucky enough to take first and beat a pro final table that included Mike Matusow, Gene Todd and Haralabos Voulgaris. Roy is a Plastic Surgeon from California.
Shawn Shiekhan Faces Deportation - Outspoken poker player Shawn Shiekhan is in some deep trouble and may be deported to Iran. Immigration officials have arrested Sheikhan at his Las Vegas home on August 30th. He is currently out now after posting $10k in bail money. Las Vegas Review Journal reports
The dispute is over a 1995 conviction in California. “Sheikhan was targeted for ICE arrest because of his criminal history,” Virginia Kice, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration/Customs Enforcement. “ICE has an ongoing initiative called Operation Predator targeting individuals, including foreign nationals, who prey upon and sexually exploit children.”
“We want to see him removed from the United States,” Kice said.
Of course Shieky has a lawyer and is doing everything his bankroll can to stay in the United States.

“i was just made aware of these serious allegations this morning while playing at the wpt event at the borgata, where i am presently. while i have not had a chance to investigate this matter, i can tell you and anyone else who believes or for whatever reason has stated that i am somehow involved in this matter, unequivocally, i do not now, nor have i ever, had the ability to see hole cards on any poker site i have ever played at including absolute poker.
i doubt my results would be what they are if i had the ability to see my opponents’ hole cards. in fact, i am almost certainly the biggest all-time loser on the site and have been crushed in the big games for a long, very long time. if anything, i would very much like this matter thoroughly investigated so that we can all find out what has happened, and if appropriate, to take swift remedial action such as seizing funds and returning them to the players cheated, including myself, if in fact, ap’s security protections have been compromised.

one of the weakest heads up players I’ve ever faced and don’t see how he could ever beat a good player heads up.I’m starting to wonder how good all of these online superstars really are because the ones that seem to be touted as excellent, play in such a way that I find easily exploitable.
I’m sitting, waiting for whoever, but my confidence is growing after playing some of these guys and leaving thoroughly unimpressed overall. Interesting post number 2: There is a lot of hype surrounding the online players and I think I may have bought into it a little bit myself. A lot of them are excellent players I’m sure, but I genuinely believe after talking to several, and playing with them from time to time, that there is stuff I know that most of them don’t. Compared to playing live poker, I absolutely suck online. Having said that, I believe I’d easily be a winning online player playing 100-200 NL. My “horrible” online play is still better than most, especially heads up. Oh and Bob? My worst game is NOT limit hold’em! Are you insane? Just because you used to call me down with Ace hi and win all the time doesn’t mean I suck. I lost to Patrick in a realitively small sample playing limit hold’em because A) he was very good, he was more comfortable online, and C) He ran insanely lucky! I’ve never lost money online playing NLH. Actually, the only real money I’ve lost online has been in PLO and limit hold’em vs a great player in Patrick Antonius. This 100-200 NL game, from what I’ve seen, isn’t very tough at all. As for my perception of ADZ, I played 250 hands vs him and his strategy heads up vs me was horrendous. Maybe he is good and doesn’t match up well with me, or maybe he was “feeling me out,” but either way, if he plays that way against on a regular basis without completely changing his approach he has no chance whatsoever. Final Table at WSOPE Emerges - When Day 4 started there was 32 players and 10 players advanced to day 5 where the final table would take place. With big names like Phil Hellmuth, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen, Annie Duke, Jamie Gold and online superstar Annette_15, the poker world expected a house hold star studded final table. However, this was definitely not the case.
Out of all the players mentioned above the only one left is 18 year old Annette_15. Her full name is Annette Obrestad. She has been ripping online tournaments for 3 years now and is always at the top of poker sites leaderboards.

WSOP Day 2 - Betfair Adds to Prize Pool - Day 2 at the World Series of Poker Europe is looking like it will be one of the most anticipated final tables in recent history.
The players in the tournament are extra pumped because Betfair.com has announced that they will be adding £57,000 to the prize pool. With this added money the first place winner will receive a cool £1,000,000.
Some of the big names that are currently left is Jamie Gold, Johnny Chan, Tony G, ZeeJustin, Isabelle Mercier, Roland De Wolfe, Howard Lederer, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Shaun Deeb and Patrik Antonius who is the current chip leader.
Rugby Comes To Paris - Online poker room Pacific Poker.com has just released their latest promotion. Who ever thought Pacific Poker were Rugby fans, but this Rugby theme promotion sounds pretty cool. The prize pool includes a trip for 2 to the Rugby events in Cardiff, Wales on Oct. 6 2007. That's not it though, you can also win another trip for 2 to the Rugby events in Paris on October 13. High Stakes Poker season 4 has started airing on the Game Show Network. GSN promises season 4 to be the richest cash game on TV ever. For the 7 last episodes players were playing with a minimum buy in of $500,000 and a required straddle. This created a table with over $5,000,000 in play. |

Action Dan Harrington won the 2007 Legends of Poker World Poker Tour Championship Event on August 31st. This is Harrington's very first WPT title and his largest payday ever of 1.6 million for first place.
Harrington dominated the 6 handed play and his experience really pulled through for him. Dan faced David Pham heads up and Pham had a big chip lead. With the chip count 5,805,000 to Dan's 3,895,000. The first big hand of the match came on a Qc 7d 3h 7c 4c board where Pham drove the bus on the turn and river. Harrington made 2 great calls with his Q-10 to win a monster pot worth 5.47 million in chips.
According to Cardplayer.com Pham kept chipping away at Harrington's stack, but Dan kept winning the pots that counted. The final hand was when Pham limped for 300,000 and Harrington checked behind. The flop came 10s4h5s and Harrington came out with a bullet of 400,000 which Pham called. The turn brought a 4 and Dan fired out a second round of 1 million. Pham moved all in and Harrington called with 105. Pham showed 75 which made him drawing dead on the river and finished 2nd place.

Bodog in Trouble - There is some serious problems going on with Bodog and the United States Government. Basically, the USA gov said hey, we are taking your domain bodog.com and not giving it back. Dolye Brunson's Daughter Takes First - Pamela Brunson was crowned champion at the 5th annual ladies night at the Los Angeles Casino. Pamela fought through the 125 player field which held popular poker players, such as: Evelyn Ng, Kathy Liebert and Karina Jett.
The first place finish paid out a $25,000 seat into the WPT World Championship at the Bellagio in April, 2008. The rest of the tournament money was donated to a Brest Cancer Charity.
Pamela doesn't play nearly as much poker has her brother Todd Brunson and her dad. However, the poker trait was spread to Doyle's kids. This is the first of many first place cashes for Pamela Brunson.
Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker have publicly stated that they have merged. This isn't really any news if you follow what's been happening for the past few with the online poker market. There have been several confirmed rumors that Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker joined forces quite some time, but did not publicly announce it.
The agreement will allow online players who have accounts on both sites to transfer funds between them with ease. This feature will improve each sites tournaments and other special promotions. Currently the transfers can take up to 48 hours but both sites are working hard at making the transfers instant.
This is great for UB and Absolute account holders. Now if only us poker players could transfer from Stars to Full Tilt to Bodog with ease. Hopefully one day that will happen!

It's rumored right now that selected Pokerstars accounts are allowing American eChecks again. USA Players have been receiving pop ups saying that they can fund their accounts via eChecks. This option has not be available since a couple months after the UIGEA was introduced. PokerStars website has the same information in their banking options, saying that they do no accept eChecks anymore. However, it looks like this will soon be changed. |

PokerStars is really cracking down on players playing multiple accounts. This week PokerStars has permanently banned high stakes poker professionals Dustin Wolfe and Micon. There have also been several other players who were banned beyond these two. Apparently the accounts banned were associated with each other by real money transfers and IP account relations. |
All PokerStars Players should now be very careful with there accounts now. Do not let other people log into your accounts and play for you. Full Tilt Poker is also coming down hard with players playing with multiple accounts. Wait a little while for the smoke to clear. Gus Hansen's Million Dollar Day Gus Hansen put just under a 24 hour session in on Full Tilt Poker where he won a little over $1,000,000 playing Pot Limit Omaha. Poker After Dark Gets New Light
Season 2 of Poker After Dark featuring Shana Hiatt is now airing.
This month NBC viewers will be treated with 3 new matches, which will be aired throughout North America. The first season of Poker After Dark had the best professional poker players playing out a 6-handed Sit N Go tournament. The buy-in was $20,000 with a winner take all format. However, we assume that the players end up making a deal because when it gets heads up, the blinds are so high it turns into a crap shoot.
The first week we will see the Champions week, where all the players who have won the World Series of Poker Main Event, will duke it out for this tournament. The players will be Doyle Brunson, Jamie Gold, Johnny Chan, Huck Seed, Greg Raymer and Joseph Hachem.
Poker After Dark airs every night (except Sunday) at 2:00am on the NBC Network. The Saturday episode is a director's cut special. Which includes recaps and player discussion of the tournaments play. The show is filmed at South Point Hotel in Las Vegas.

April 26, 2007 Day 4 at the WPT – Hellmuth Down in Chips
The forth day of the World Poker Tour had many suck outs, busts and big pots. There are now only 3 tables left with 27 players competing for that huge first place prize which is over $3.9 million! As we said before this is the largest World Poker Tour event to ever be played.
It will only take one more day before the event moves on to the final table. Currently Paul Lee is in the best shape with an impressive stack of 3,601,000 chips. Phil Hellmuth who was day 3 leader lost some big pots when he was out kicked with QK to KA, on a board of K-5-4. Hellmuth had to call the all-in by David Levi. Another big loss to Hellmuth's stack was when Sorel Mizzi flopped a set of 9s and tightened up. We are unaware of what Hellmuth had but he most of had something big to instant muck.

April 25th 2007 Day 3 At the WPT – Hellmuth Keeps Trucking
There are only 54 people left at the end of Day 3 at the World Poker Tour. The WPT will be wrapping up with some great television with Phil Hellmuth leading the way with 1,827,000 chips. Phil Hellmuth is considered to be one of the best if not the best Hold'em tournament player in the world. He has 10 World Series of Poker Bracelets but has yet to win a World Poker Tour Title. This is a great opportunity for Hellmuth to win his first title along with a $3,970,415 for first place.
There are some other big names in the event as well, Roland de Wolfe, who was the chip leader after day 2 is kicking around in 5th spot with 1,287,000 chips and Carlos Mortensen is just shy of a million in chips. Nov 9th, 2006 - High Stakes Poker Marathon Coming - For all you High Stakes Poker fans you will be excited to know that - on Monday 8 PM EST, November 13, High Stakes Poker will be running a special 4 hour marathon. The GSN exclusive high stakes cash poker games series is promoting the new movie, Casino Royale. The show will also feature behind the stage scenes and interviews.
High Stakes Poker season 3 was taped at South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and is scheduled to air in January 2007 on the Game Show Network.

Nov 6th, 2006 - Jamie Gold – Still refusing to pay half his winning to his friend
WSOP Main Event Champion Jamie Gold who added 12 million to his bankroll is not keeping his word. Jamie Gold has no intention of sharing half of the $12 million to Bruce Crispin. Bruce is a Hollywood talent agent who was supposedly promised half of Jamie Gold's winnings; is sueing Jamie Gold to hold out his end of the bargain.
Finally Jamie Gold filed a court brief explaining his side of the story. Saying that; the agreement was “nothing more than a promise to make a gift.”

It is rumored that Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker will be announcing a merger this week. Details have not been released but this rumor is flooding the internee poker news rooms. The brand that will remain intact pears to be Ultimate Bet. Both rooms are leaders of the field and a merger would put them as a major competitor in this day with the new USA laws.
There have also been rumors of Party Poker and 888.com (Pacific Poker joining! Stay tuned)

Things have been so busy here at Bankroll backer. You probably have all noticed that many online poker rooms are currently closing many American accounts. Party Poker, Paradise Poker, the Crypotologic Network and Poker network are some major rooms that do not allow US citizens to play at their sites.
We really do not know what exactly is going to come out of this new bill that was recently signed. But as of now it is definitely not looking good. The rumors that have been floating around is that, the United States government has totally banned internet poker being played on US soil. This statement is completely unprecedented.
