Gus plays an extremely loose aggressive style of poker. His post flop play is outstanding. Gus pays very little attention to his position during hands, but there is a method to his madness. And it has been proven time and time again with final table appearances and in his cash game play.

He is known to get inside his opponents heads. He takes advantage of this and makes players commit to many chips to pots. Thinking that he has another trash hand, but this is usually when Gus will have a strong hand. Gus will often over bet the pot or push with a pair or some kind of draw, making his opponents to make very tough decisions. However, with his extreme aggression shown on the flop he will slow down and play much more cautious on the turn and river.
